Xcapade Hayward

This is totally different from what you expect from a typical escape room (not in a positive way). For whatever they claim themselves to be, they don't deserve to be. I write this so that other people wouldn't waste their money and time like us. It claims to be escape games with modern technology. But it's just a couple of beam projector shooting some background images on the wall. No physical objects, environment or whatsoever you can interact as in other typical escape rooms. You're just sitting around a table. The virtual background is not interactable in any way. There is this 'game master' throwing you some riddles with some clues, and you need to satisfy him with some right (supposedly) answers. The virtual background was supposed to give us clues, but it was all in chinese. They just gave us some printed translations. All we do is essentially reading the text and solve the poorly written riddles, worse than a knocked-off board game you may play at home. I cannot believe they can dare to charge more than $50/person for this setup. Though not being an escape room, it still could be an enjoyable fun format if the riddles are thoughtfully posed and the game master sets up the vibe very well. This was totally not the case. First of all, the game master came late like 20 minutes. Unlike other escape rooms, we cannot do anything, simple sitting there. More fundamentally, once the game started, the questions were posed in a very generic way, so obviously people think about it from various viewpoints, not necessarily relevant to the answer. The game master gets annoyed very often and kept saying 'it's irrelevant', 'you shouldn't think that way'. At some point it was not us who discuss and play the game, rather the game master who dictates the entire game, and it was not in a pleasant way.

We were a group of 4 to try the “Hunting Lodge”, and honestly it was quite a challenge for us. The staff was patient in giving hints throughout the game even though we did rely on the walkie-talkie a lot. The theme room wasn’t as big as I thought, but was well designed and definitely took plenty of effort to complete. While there can still be some improvement done to furnishing the interior, I appreciate the attitude and room quality overall! Definitely worth a try!!!

One of the things I love about this escape rooms is how immersive it is. The attention to detail in the room design is impressive. This really helps to transport you into the scenario and make the experience feel more real. Overall, I would highly recommend trying this escape room if you haven't already. A great place to have fun, challenge yourself, and bond with others. Just be prepared to use your brain and think outside the box!

I have been there several times. There are really many scripts in the store. It is a new experience every time. In addition, DM is very friendly and helpful here. have many choices of board games. They are very suitable for offline gatherings of friends. This was really fun. I'll do it again.

A brilliant setup with clever plot twists and immersive roleplay. I felt like I was in a real detective novel! Can’t wait to try another script here.
