Tried House of Purge for a rage room experience and left feeling… mixed. They provided a face shield and basic work gloves, but that was about it for protective gear. I wore shorts (my mistake), but with the lack of air conditioning, pants would’ve made it unbearable. It was blazing hot inside, and with glass flying around, it didn’t feel all that safe or comfortable. We booked a 30-minute session but tapped out after 20—it just wasn’t worth pushing through the heat. The guy working there didn’t seem thrilled to be there either, which didn’t help the vibe. It could be a great spot with better ventilation, upgraded safety gear, and a little more energy from the staff. For now, it’s just okay.
I found House of Purge and thought it would be a fun, unique idea for Valentine’s Day. Their website even features a news interview highlighting how safe and well-run the place is, showing the full protective gear provided—goggles, face visors, gloves, and full-body suits. However, our experience was far from that. We booked an 8:30 PM session (they close at 10) and arrived expecting to gear up. Instead, we walked in to find only a face visor and gloves laid out on a bench. The staff member seemed tired and uninterested, rushing through the rules in a small enclosed space. When I asked about the protective suits shown on their website, he casually said, “No, but I could get you a jacket…”—definitely not the level of safety we expected. The gloves provided were way too big, making the latex ones underneath useless. A large fan blew glass particles into our lungs and eyes, and by the end, our shoes were full of shattered glass. The next morning, even after showering, I was still finding glass in my hair. For the price, this experience just doesn’t make sense. It’s unsafe and not worth it—save yourself the trouble and drive a little farther outside Charlotte to find something better
We brought our teen for his birthday and he had a blast. We were super lucky they just got a new car to destroy !!! Owner was super nice and even let us go in to take pictures and good videos. Love that we could listen to our own music. 10/10 would go again.
